Kanji Reader

Kanji Reader is a multi-volume series of lessons that teach kanji one character at a time. Currently there are four volumes of Kanji Reader. Each volume teaches you how to read and write 150 new kanji characters and provides reading practice with thousands of words. With each additional volume, you learn 150 new characters while getting practice using characters taught in earlier volumes.

Reading & Writing Kana

Learn to read and write the two Japanese phonetic syllabaries: hiragana and katakana. The software keeps a separate record of your progress for each syllabary.  Pronunciation is taught using the voice of a native Japanese speaker and you can record your own voice for comparison. Animated kana teach writing. The program "watches" as you draw the kana and helps you when you make a mistake.

Kana Word Puzzles

Kana Word Puzzles is a vocabulary-building program. It teaches over 2000 Japanese words, reinforces familiarity with hiragana and katakana, and provides hours of fun and linguistic growth. For beginners, Kana Word Puzzles begins with easier and more commonly used words. For experienced students, it begins with more advanced words.  The program tracks your progress and places emphasis on words that are difficult for you. Kana Speed-Recognition

Kana Speed-Recognition is the most challenging of these games. The game displays eight pairs of characters, and in each pair, one is a hiragana and one is a katakana. You specify whether the two represent the same sound or not. At first, set the time limit so that you can comfortably give your answers with accuracy. Then, set increasingly challenging time limits so that eventually you are reading kana at breathtaking speed!
