At the heart of Kanji Reader, the characters are taught systematically,
one kanji at a time. As you learn each kanji, the quizzes contain either the
new kanji only, or the new kanji and one or more kanji you have already studied.
With this systematic approach, you are learning new information at a comfortable
level, while getting plenty of review. Kanji Reader keeps track of which
characters you have studied and tailors the lessons to your individual progress.
In general, Kanji Reader teaches the kanji characters in an order
that moves from the more commonly used to the less commonly used characters.
This order is recommended for most efficient learning. However, Kanji Reader
allows the user to make "special requests" that a particular character be
taught next. This helps students synchronize the lessons in Kanji Reader
with those in any textbooks they may be using.
A special emphasis is put on learning to write the kanji:
- One entire activity in Kanji Reader is devoted to teaching some
quick rules-of-thumb that make learning to write kanji easier.
- The instant Kanji Dictionary uses animation to teach the proper
stroke order for writing each kanji.
- You may organize the kanji into groups of "easy" and "difficult"
kanji to write, so you can place emphasis on the kanji that are difficult
for you to write.
