The program keeps a separate record of your progress for each syllabary.
As with the reading program, there are two modes to this program:
learn and test. In the learn mode, you see a large, animated kana being
drawn on the blackboard. Then, you practice drawing the kana yourself. The
program "watches" as you draw each kana with the mouse and alerts you if
a mistake is made.
In the test mode, a kana is pronounced without showing the character
on the screen. After you draw the kana, you can request that it be drawn
on the blackboard to confirm your answer. Extra emphasis is given to characters
that are difficult for you.
